However, the true purpose of the Encyclopedia was a clever deception. Seldon knew that the Empire's fall could not be stopped, and he needed a group of dedicated scholars isolated from imperial politics to survive the coming chaos. The project served as a perfect smokescreen, allowing the Foundation to accumulate resources and influence under the guise of academic endeavor while secretly preparing for the two Seldon Crises predicted by psychohistory.
